On my mind this week....Terenzo Bozzone, after a long and successful career by most measures, finally got an Ironman title, at Ironman Western Australia, and did so with blazing speed, breaking the course record. I could tell things were clicking for T when we chatted at the Island House Triathlon.
Starting on December 8th, the Stance ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship begins at La Jolla Shores, in San Diego. One of the surfers shaking up the competition will be the unstoppable Dani Burt.
With the holidays rapidly approaching, perhaps a triathlete or cyclist on your list would love a power meter. Bryan Taylor has you covered.
And we get to re-live all the excitement, joy, and drama of the Ironman World Championships with the annual airing of the Ironman on NBC, Saturday, December 10th at 2:30 ET.
**Update: The date for the memorial will be March 7th at DeAnza Cove. Details to follow**
It is with deep sorrow we report the passing of our good friend and long-time TCSD member and volunteer Jonathan “JJ” Jefferson. As many TCSD members know, JJ was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago. At that time, his doctors gave him 10 months to live. JJ’s response: “watch me double or triple that!” JJ made good on his promise until very recently when a suddenly aggressive recurrence of his cancer landed him in Hospice care on January 22nd. Even then, when his doctors had said he potentially had only hours or a handful of days left, JJ fought on for another 11 days before peacefully passing away in the afternoon of February 2nd.
